I am an amateur film photographer, specialising in landscape and portraits. I first came across film photography in my school years. I fell in love with the process of taking and developing photos on film. The excitement of seeing a photo come to life, as if by magic, in the developer was unforgetable. I studied the works of Vivian Maier as part of my art GCSE in photography. Her unique approach to self portraits captured my imagination. However, beyond GCSEs it would be seven years before I returned to the art of film photography.

In the summer of 2022 I was sorting through some old things in my aunt Lesley's house. That was when I first lay eyes on the Mamiya C220. The Mamiya C220 is a lovely Japanese made medium format TLR camera. Looking through a viewfinder again reignited the passion that had faded over the years. To find myself with the same style of camera that Vivian Maier used was the cherry on top.

Being new to medium format 120 film with a 6x6 square aspect ratio camera I am still finding my feet. My work so far has been in black and white with Ilfords FP4 and HP5 films. I have focussed on landscapes in the countryside around Southampton. I will also be exploring colour film photography in the near future with Kodaks Gold 200.
